Condoms and dental dams

Condoms are the most effective way to lower the risk of sexually transmitted infections and to prevent pregnancy. Latex is the most common material, and polyisoprene and polyurethane are options for anyone with a latex allergy. Dental dams are thin sheets that provide a barrier during oral sex.

Check the expiry date, and the size, since a good fit improves comfort and protection. Use water-based or silicone lubricant with latex condoms, and never oil-based products. Store condoms in a cool, dry place, not in a wallet or glove compartment. Use a new condom every time.
