What is a water-based lube?

Water-based lubricant is the most versatile type. It is safe to use with latex condoms and with every type of toy, including silicone, it rinses off easily and rarely stains sheets. It feels natural and is a good all-round choice for solo and partner play.

The main drawback is that water-based lube can absorb into the skin or dry out, so you may need to add a little more or mist it with water. Check the label for glycerin and parabens if you have sensitive skin or are prone to yeast infections. A small bottle is a good thing to keep in a nightstand.

Keep a bottle by the bed and another in your bag, and replace it if it has been open for more than a year. If it smells odd or feels sticky, it is time for a new one.
